Jean & Nick: Married Pt. 2

As promise, here’s Part 2 of Jean & Nick’s beautiful wedding day!  Being that Jean is the gorgeous style maven behind the popular blog Extra Petite, and her handsome fiancée Nick is a talented writer and photographer, their wedding day promised to be FULL of style, details and sentiment.   I had to split their blog post into 2 parts so that it wouldn’t feel like the world’s longest blog post– (here’s Part 1 in case you missed it) but I’m not sure that even helped much because Part 2 is still crazy long– eep!  It was just too hard to cut it down though– there were so many great ideas, details and moments that I thought might inspire other brides.  Another reason for the super long post is that I was just so jazzed about shooting in Boston– such a great city!   And their venue (The Boston Public Library) was an absolute photographer’s dream!  So in conclusion, I really struggled to cut this post down, but then just figured– Hey it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want!!!  haha

So grab a drink, sit back and enjoy as I take you through Jean & Nick’s romantic, vintage-inspired Boston wedding!  I hope you enjoy 🙂

Jean & Nick opted to have a First Look outside a nearby cathedral and it was perfect!  They then followed that with photos with their bridal party and their portraits, before heading to the Ceremony.  It’s always a nice option to do things in this order so that your pictures are all finished and you can go straight to spending the rest of the evening with your guests, rather than doing the photos in between the ceremony and reception.

What a dream!  I’ve never been in an empty gorgeous library before after it’s closed to the public– let alone had free reign to shoot wherever I wanted!  There’s something so magical and so romantic about it– the history, the grandeur, the mystery.  And then to top it all off with such an elegant, beautiful couple?  Pinch me.

The ceremony took place in the library’s courtyard which was just stunning.  Definitely one of the most epic walks down the aisle for a bride I’ve ever seen!

Jean and Nick then headed upstairs to the Juliet balcony to do their First Dance overlooking the courtyard and all their guests.  All while being serenaded by close friends down below who singing an acoustic version of “Love me like you do” by Ellie Goulding.  Swoon!!

After their First Dance, the party started!  Guests enjoyed special signature drinks, hor d’oeuvres, and a pre-dinner Noodle Bar, complete with Take Out Boxes! (it was delicious!)

While their guests enjoyed the cocktail hour in the courtyard, I stole Jean & Nick away for a few more photos now that Jean had changed into her 3rd gorgeous gown of the day.  I love when couples opt to do this as it gives us a chance to get some beautiful photos during the very flattering light at sunset, and also gives the couple a few minutes alone to soak in the fact that they’re now officially married.

The reception was beautiful too of course, but my favourite detail was probably the donut tower which took the place of a more traditional wedding cake.  I mean, Maple Bacon?  Yes, please!  Jean & Nick also chose to do a sweetheart table at the front of the room and for their Seating Chart, they used old school library cards to further compliment the vintage theme and library setting.  I love it when couples add touches of their personalities throughout their wedding, and a highlight for me was when Jean & Nick made their grand entrance into their reception.  They came in with iPhones in hand, recording their guests amused reactions– so cute!  And since they had their First Dance already, after dinner they led their guests back outside to just dance and have fun under the twinkly hanging lights.

Jean & Nick~  I could never thank you enough for everything.  Your faith and trust in me meant so much and I’m so incredibly honoured to be the lucky person that got to capture your vision and bring it to life through photos. I think I can speak for both Sharon and I when I say that the kindness and generosity you and your families extended to us during our time in Boston truly made this whole experience one we’ll always remember and hold dear.  Congratulations Jean & Nick!  Anyone that spends even a few minutes with you two can feel the love and respect you have for each other– it’s a beautiful thing and I wish you a lifetime of happiness & cupcakes <3
