My favourite thing about shooting weddings- without a doubt- is getting to experience all the different ways couples choose to celebrate their day, and to be a witness to how each couple chooses to honour their love for each other. From big, lavish weddings, to intimate family affairs, to private destination elopements– I love that a couples’ wedding is such a special and unique day for them. Pamela and Wade chose to keep theirs very simple and intimate– just them, their witnesses, and me! I was so honoured. The day consisted of some “getting ready” time at The Union Bank Inn, followed by a “First Look”, then a beautifully simple ceremony outside in front of The Hotel MacDonald (a first for me!), and then a few hours for photos all over the hotel (we pretty much had free reign of the place since their wedding was also held on a week day). With no strict timelines to stick to and no hustle and bustle of guests, we were really able to breathe it all in and be in the moment. It was all about them… and I must admit, selfishly, I was thrilled to have so much time to just run around taking tons and tons of photos! Here’s some of my favourites from their perfect, perfect wedding day~
Pamela wanted an overall vintage vibe for her wedding and her retro Michelle Roth dress was the perfect fit! She originally had purchased a different dress locally, but couldn’t get her mind off of a dress she had seen once online a few years back. With a lot of looking and a little bit of luck, she managed to find one second hand in Pennsylvania (the dress was no longer in production). Her hair clip and birdcage veil were her “something borrowed”, as they were previously worn by her maid of honour at her wedding. I love it when old things are made new again!
Pamela & Wade~ Thank you for choosing me to be a part of your very intimate and genuinely heartfelt wedding. I was so honoured to be able to help capture it for you and I hope you’ll feel like you’ll always have these photos to bring you right back to that day.
