A year ago, I shot the lovely Cale and her handsome husband Jesse in a styled shoot amongst the pretty cherry blossoms. After that shoot, we snuck off with just Cale for a few creative portraits and then unfortunately life & work got too busy and I had to put these pictures on the back burner for a while. Recently I was finally able sit down and work on these photos and it was like waking up on Christmas morning! I love each of these shots so much and am so happy to finally be able to share them.
The styling and vision for this shoot came about very organically– I had a few ideas to start and then both Sunita (the makeup artist & hair stylist) and Cale (the model) brought their own unique ideas to the shoot, so it was very much a collaborative effort. I love working with such stylish and creative women! Oh– and did I mention that Cale’s not even an actual model? Just a super beautiful girl- inside & out.
We did this shoot as a way to help us stretch ourselves creatively– without any worries of delivering anything specific to a client. I especially loved playing around with my editing and trying new things. We shot it in about 30 minutes at twilight after the sun had just gone down and I love that this gave the pictures a bit of a dark, haunting feel. I shot the whole thing with a 5omm f1.4 lens.
Thanks again to the amazing/inspiring/superhuman Sunita Sumaru for always being my creative partner on these shoots. Your hair & makeup talents know no limits!
And thanks to the gorgeous Cale for bringing so much style, grace and personal wardrobe pieces (haha!) to the shoot. You’re so inspiring to photograph!
