Who knew that this day would be so sad? My babies aren’t babies anymore and despite how tough the last couple years have been at times, it’s sad to think that they’re growing up. We celebrated Kai’s 2nd Bday this past weekend with a Little Monsters themed party. It was as much an emotional day as it was a happy one, and I’m pretty sure I tried to cradle him like a little baby in my arms on more than one occasion that afternoon! Call it denial, I suppose haha.
For anyone interested, here’s some info about the little details:
*the cake was made by our usual cake expert Karen. She’s made all the cakes for our kids birthdays thus far, and never lets us down. Message me if you’d like her contact info.
*the cupcakes I made myself just from a box cake mix. Easy peasy!
*the cute little felt monsters we gave out at the end of the party to each kid as a “party favor” instead of a treat bag. I made them with a little felt from the fabric store, a hot glue gun, and a sewing machine. Took about one whole evening to do about 12 of them.
*the mint chocolate chip cookies were yum, except they didn’t turn out as green looking as I wanted. If you make them, just be sure to double the amount of food coloring they suggest. Here’s the recipe LINK
*the Ice Cream Sundae Bar was definitely the hit of the party. I bought a couple pints of rainbow icecream and just let the kids go wild with toppings. There was whip cream, chocolate sauce, maraschino cherries– the works! No rules and so much fun.
*the little monster smile masks were graphics by JW Illustrations © mygrafico.com that I printed off and stuck onto sticks.
And a few of the birthday boy with his adoring big sister Aaliyah. In the middle pics, she’s attempting to show Kai how to hold up his 2 fingers to show his new age. Cute little monsters, indeed.
I’m tearing up even as I’m type this~ To my little Kiki Kai (his nickname in our family), you may not be a baby anymore, BUT you’ll always be my baby. I’ll never stop eating those cheeks! And to all his future girlfriends, consider yourselves warned… I will totally be “that mom” that doesn’t think anyone is ever good enough for her son. 😉
