Sharon I haven’t been here in a while, so much eye candy!! Gosh!!

With the holidays in full swing and the festivities well under-way around the Gill household, I thought I’d share some personal pictures we took this past October while visiting Vancouver.  It’s always great when Cheryl and I can get our families together and we always try to fit in a quick photo session (after all, if photographers can’t have nice family pictures themselves, that’s just a shame!)

Our good friends were also with us along with their adorable little girl, Saiyrah.  When I was editing the picture below with all 4 of our kids, it made me remember a shot we had taken a while back on one of our previous visits.  Love looking back at what a difference just over a year can make!

Kai turns 2

Who knew that this day would be so sad?   My babies aren’t babies anymore and despite how tough the last couple years have been at times, it’s sad to think that they’re growing up.  We celebrated Kai’s 2nd Bday this past weekend with a Little Monsters themed party.  It was as much an emotional day as it was a happy one, and I’m pretty sure I tried to cradle him like a little baby in my arms on more than one occasion that afternoon!  Call it denial, I suppose haha.

For anyone interested, here’s some info about the little details:

*the cake was made by our usual cake expert Karen.  She’s made all the cakes for our kids birthdays thus far, and never lets us down.  Message me if you’d like her contact info.

*the cupcakes I made myself just from a box cake mix.  Easy peasy!

*the cute little felt monsters we gave out at the end of the party to each kid as a “party favor” instead of a treat bag.   I made them with a little felt from the fabric store, a hot glue gun, and a sewing machine.  Took about one whole evening to do about 12 of them.

*the mint chocolate chip cookies were yum, except they didn’t turn out as green looking as I wanted.  If you make them, just be sure to double the amount of food coloring they suggest.  Here’s the recipe LINK

*the Ice Cream Sundae Bar was definitely the hit of the party.  I bought a couple pints of rainbow icecream and just let the kids go wild with toppings.  There was whip cream, chocolate sauce, maraschino cherries– the works!  No rules and so much fun.

*the little monster smile masks were  graphics by JW Illustrations © that I printed off and stuck onto sticks.

And a few of the birthday boy with his adoring big sister Aaliyah.  In the middle pics, she’s attempting to show Kai how to hold up his 2 fingers to show his new age.  Cute little monsters, indeed.

I’m tearing up even as I’m type this~  To my little Kiki Kai (his nickname in our family), you may not be a baby anymore, BUT you’ll always be my baby.  I’ll never stop eating those cheeks!  And to all his future girlfriends, consider yourselves warned… I will totally be “that mom” that doesn’t think anyone is ever good enough for her son.   😉

Jennifer i LOVE that you LOVE your little ones sooo much. I teared up just reading that you were tearing up! You just stated perfectly what every mom who has “babies” that are growing up (too fast!) feels. Thank you for just being you. You made my heart squeeze a little today. I’m going to go hug my kids now…

Sharon Lol, I love how you tried to cradle him! I’m never disappointed when I’m here to look at your photos Kat. It amazes me how fast they’ve grown in the few short years that I’ve known you. I still remember you being pregnant with both of them!! Crazy! You’re a good Mom, I love you.

Miranda Kat…omg…I totally understand how you feel, even though Tristan is a handful of months shy from his first! I love the idea and your decor – and Kai and Aaliyah are super adorbs.

Becky Denial is a sweet place to be, Kat. I’m so sorry we missed Kai’s birthday. 🙁 You did a fantastic job (as usual) with the Monster theme! We definately have to get the boys together again soon.

victoria & nathan: married | edmonton wedding photographer

Some people are just lovely, lovely people.  They make you want to be around them… they make you smile… they have an good aura that’s just positive and uplifting– that’s Victoria & Nathan.  We couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding because we knew it would be beautiful and fun, but they really just blew our expectations out of the water.  From chowing down on poutine and cupcakes to snuggling in secluded stairwells, their day was all about love, laughter and making beautiful memories.  If it wasn’t Victoria charming us with her infectious laugh, it was Nathan cracking us up with his hilarious sense of humor.  We seriously love you guys!  Check out some of our favorites from their beautiful wedding~

Their ceremony was held at the absolutely stunning St. Joseph’s Basilica— one of my favorite places to shoot.

After their ceremony, we stopped for a bite to eat at La Poutine where the whole group happily chowed down and got honked at by all the passersby congratulating them.  Too cute  😉

That was followed by some dessert at Whimsical Cake Studio.  Thanks to the amazing team at Whimsical for letting us take over their adorable shop and set up an impromptu photo shoot for Victoria & Nathan!  These 2 were like 2 little teenagers in love~

Sigh~  you guys are just too gorgeous.  You make picking favorite pictures just way too hard!

Some amazing vendors contributed to this beautiful wedding:  Jennifer Bergman Weddings, Special Event Rentals, flowers by La Piazza Dasee,  The Art of Cake, and Anita Gill Makeup Artistry.

Victoria & Nathan~  You two are so meant for each other, and it’s totally obvious how much in love you are.  Cheryl & I were so honored to be a part of your wonderful wedding and hope that these pictures reflect what an amazing day it truly was.

Tons of love,
