Every wedding has a predominant theme… a feeling… an overall vibe. Once we’ve left the reception and Cheryl and I are in the car nursing our sore feet and reliving the day’s events, we always end up circling around a word that just encapsulates the mood of that particular wedding day. Perhaps it’s fun or sweet or luxurious— you get the idea. And for Miranda & Joe’s wedding, the predominant vibe was definitely emotional. From the tea ceremony at the start of the day to the dances at the end of the night, heartfelt tears were not hard to come by at this wedding and what that really indicated to me was that this day was special. You could feel it in the air and you could see it through the lens with every snap of the shutter. I knew that these two would deliver the goods when it came to looking fabulous in front of the camera. They already proved this to me when we shot their awesome engagement session, but what I really loved was the real, raw emotion that can’t ever be drawn out the way it just flows out naturally on a wedding day. It was very apparent that we were capturing the happiness of these 2 families finally coming together and most definitely the love between Miranda & Joe. I know I say it all the time, but this is why I love my job. It’s hard not to get caught up in all the love.
Check out some of our favorites from their beautiful wedding~
The day started with Miranda and the girls getting ready for the tea ceremony at her parent’s house. Here’s Miranda looking radiant!
Then Joe and his boys came a knockin’, but in typical Chinese tradition, he had to pass a series of “tests” first 🙂
Then they both went their separate ways to get ready for the wedding ceremony. Of course that means cigars for the men and pampering for the ladies!
I looove this shot of Miranda reflected off a mirror in a tool kit as she’s having a little quiet moment.
Gorgeous makeup brought to you by the dynamic duo of Susan Gill & Anita Gill. Yes, in case you haven’t noticed already– all 3 of my sisters-in-law are ridiculously talented makeup artists and it’s always my lucky day when they’re beautifying my brides and their bridesmaids!
The ceremony was held at the beautiful Devonian Botanic Garden in Edmonton.
Oh you two~ so gorgeous. I love everything about these shots.
My husband will kill me for using this word in a non-joking context, but oh my goodness you guys are lookin’ fierce in this shot!
“Hey Miranda, do you mind lying upside down on this giant, jagged rock and sticking your head in the ferns? Oh, and try to make it look super comfortable. perrrrfect.” (yes, we have the best brides ever!)
Not typically the kind of shot we’d blog, but it’s too awesome to pass up. This is one bad ass gang. Or not– but they sure believe it! ha ha- you guys rule!!
Miranda & Joe~ We couldn’t have asked for a sweeter, lovelier couple. You both treated us like old friends right from the get go and trusted us with capturing all the emotion of your perfect day– we really hope we succeeded. Love you guys!
