sharon I agree with Trinh. I can’t believe that little tiny baby was Aaliyah! How and when did she turn into a little young lady who shops! What a cutie! And you, you’re a good mother Kat! Even when you watch all those garbage on tv hahah!!

baby sunna

Meet the baby Sunna.  I’ve been photographing her family for a couple years now and recently they’ve added this adorable little miss to their brood.  With her awesome big brother Asher, two very cool parents and a pair of protective pet Huskies, little Sunna is bound to grow up so loved and showered with many wet slobbery kisses (mostly  from the dogs but I’d say Asher’s may still be a bit slobbery too 🙂 )   This is my first official session back since I’ve been on my mini maternity leave and I must say everything just felt so relaxed and natural– which is probably much due to her amazing parents Heather and Brent, who by now with baby #2 are cool and calm veterans.  Not even a giant poopy accident mid-way through the shoot threw anyone!  Call it a hunch, but I think this little sweetie pie will have a promising future in front of the camera 😉

I’m a little obsessed with baby eyelashes~ so sweet.

Holy gorgeous family alert!  This one needs to be blown up and hung on a wall.  Maybe my wall even–  would that be weird??  😉

Look at that face! aaaah!  I could die.

We took a few of big brother Asher too.  Can’t believe he’s already 2– feels like just yesterday that we were doing his newborn shoot.

Um did I mention I’m obsessed with eyelashes?  haha

Heather and Brent~ Thanks for letting me be such a constant in your lives as we document your beautiful growing family.  Love you guys!!!

sharon Aww!! I love this session! Love the polka dot scarf, love her lashes, love her little peasant shirt! So cute!! LOVE the shot you got of Heather and Sunna – so artsy yet emotional. Brent and Heather are cute too! And Asher I can’t believe what a big boy he is, I still remember looking at his baby pics!!

Cherie I love your pictures of little Sunna. Yet again you did an amazing job capturing the love of a family. Congrats to Heather, Brent & big brother Asher. xo

sheena & curtis: engaged

With just a little while longer before I’m officially “back to work”, I thought I’d share another session I did as a second shooter for my friend Sharon.  Meet the adorable Sheena and Curtis.  I tagged along for a fun e-session with them this past summer and a LOT  has happened for them since– they’re now married and expecting their first baby!  Judging by this lucky baby’s super cool parents, three things are for certain:  he or she will be gorgeous, playful and a hell of a dancer!

Who doesn’t love icecream on a hot summer day?  mmmm I could sure use one now!

If memory serves me right, they were actually laughing at some cat-calling they were getting by some random men passing by!

Could these two be any cuter together??

My favorite shot!  So real. So sweet.

Yowza Sheena you work it girl- rawr!! 😉

Congrats Sheena & Curtis!  I can’t wait to see the beautiful baby you bring into this world.  So glad to have met you both!

XOXO

Jill What a gorgeous couple! Their baby is gonna be a model for sure! Stunning photos.

shannon & jay: married

So I was watching the Oscars the other day and somewhere in between playing Fashion Police and wondering why the last movie I’d seen was the ever-so-esteemed Twilight New Moon… I realized something.  Being a presenter at the Oscars is a lot like being the second shooter at a wedding.  Not following me?  Well basically  you get to go, have fun and do what you love but you don’t have the pressure that goes along with being nominated, or in my case, being the primary photographer!  So on that thought, I decided to go through my archives from this past summer and post some pictures from a wedding I had shot for my good friend Sharon as her second shooter.  I especially love how second shooting allows me to really stretch my creative legs as a photographer and work on finding cool angles and perspectives while  Sharon is busy getting all the “key shots”.  Here’s some pictures from Shannon & Jay’s beautiful wedding.

As per Chinese tradition, the bridesmaids were barricading the door and not allowing Jay and his groomsmen to come in until they passed a series of obstacles.  Money is almost always among the list of demands!  😉

Unfortunately for Jay, the money was the LEAST of his worries!  Check out the snazzy outfit they specially picked out for him!

Having to ingest strange and disgusting food combinations is always my favorite to watch!  Jello in soy sauce?  Wasabi covered chocolates?  bon appetit!!!

After the ceremony, the bridal party was famished so we made a pit stop to Booster Juice before hitting up a bunch of cool spots for photos.

I LOVE the how the colors pop in this shot of the bridal party.  The fuchsia was a beautiful choice!

Do these girls know how to work it, or what??  Gorgeous!

Shannon & Jay are so lucky to have such great friends.  They really knew how to have fun and were so caring and supportive all day long.

I can never resist snapping a couple shots of Cheryl and Sharon in action throughout the day.

Then Jay’s friends decided they had their own ideas for photos…

LOVE this shot.  They both just looked so beautiful.

Hi, I’m Shannon and I’m gorgeous!  Ain’t no thang.

This was HANDS DOWN my favorite shot from the whole day.  It was shot through a modern art statue on the street.

sigh– all these summer photos are making me crave warm weather.  Can’t wait for wedding season to start up again soon!  I do believe that’s when Twilight Eclipse is coming out too 😉 haha

jaiya & lehla: pink rock

Meet Jaiya and Lehla.  They’re my super hip nieces and daughters to my sister-in-law (and make up artist/stylist extraordinaire) Sunita.  We took advantage of the blissfully warm weather the other day and shot some ultra-girly photos for their ultra-girly new bedroom.  Mostly, it was an excuse for us to dress them up and accessorize to our hearts’ content.  I can deny that I sang and danced around like a lunatic to get them to laugh… but I won’t lie.  I’m also not above promising candy either!! — anything for the shot is my motto  😉  The whole thing took no more than half an hour and by the end what we had was a bunch of awesome shots, a few cold fingers and 2 kids that had forgotten all about the candy I had promised them!  🙂   Success!

Let’s just say Jaiya is not camera-shy whatsoever.  We actually often have to reign in her “Sears Catalogue” pose ideas though 🙂   — those ones didn’t make the final cut (but don’t tell her that!)

What do you get when your mom’s a hairdresser?  Fab hair!

Daddy stepped in for a couple shots with his girls.  So sweet!

To Jaiya & Lehla (who were excited to hear they’d be appearing on our blog) Thanks for showing me your mad modeling skillz and for being the cutest nieces EVER!!!

March 7, 2010 - 12:19 pm
