Monthly Archives: January 2010

welcome to our new home!

Hope you’ll stay a while and check out our new digs!  We’ve been meaning to give the ol’ blog a facelift for a while now but haven’t had any time.  So with the start of a new year, and me on my mini 3 month mat. leave we’ve finally been able to get down to it.  We think it’s super fresh and chic looking and reflects us a lot better~ we hope you’ll agree! Our favorite change is that we now have an open comments box at the bottom of each blog post and we hope because of this we’ll be able to hear from our visitors and frequent blog-stalkers more  🙂  So feel free to check back often and make our day by leaving us a comment or two whenever you do!  Also, please note that our blog address has now changed so if you’ve got us bookmarked (thanks!) and be sure to change the address to: All our old posts at  www. have been transferred over here and the old blog will soon be disappearing completely.

And now to help kick off our new home, check out the post below to see shots from an awesome e-session with a super hott couple!

davina & brian: engaged

I love hearing how couples met.  I don’t know if it’s because it helps me build a connection with them before I start shooting or because I’m a sucker for romance– or if I’m just a closet voyeur!   Whatever the case, I love it and Davina and Brian have a story that Kat and I can certainly relate to.  Theirs is a long distance romance that’s got Brian living in Vancouver and Davina in Edmonton (sound familiar?) They met on ICQ back in the day– anyone that remembers this, knows that it’s where all the cool kids were in the 90’s… before Friendster, which was before Myspace, which was before Facebook.  You may recognize them from her sister Dana’s wedding which we shot in October.  It’ll be their turn to get hitched this summer and thus, they’ll no longer need to keeping awaiting the ever-so-awesome Westjet seat sale to see each other. (something again, we have in common with them!)

These shots were taken during their super fun December e-session in Vancouver’s historic Gastown where we all froze our butts off!  Props to them for not letting the chill show up in their pictures though even though Davina was caught on multiple occasions trying to discreetly warm her hands in Brian’s armpits.   ~Aaaah- now that’s love!

These shots, although gorgeous, crack me up because unbeknownst to me there was a random man dancing up a storm behind me as I shot.  Davina and Brian were laughing hysterically as I snapped away!  And here I just thought I was funny 🙂

I don’t think anyone needs me to point out that these two are strikingly goodlooking.  What I will say though is that they’re also super adorable together!

Davina & Brian, I had SO much fun hanging out with you guys and seriously can’t wait for all the fun we’ll have on your wedding day!

Davina Wow. First off, does it mean I’m conceited if I can’t stop looking at these? I knew we had great photographers, but these photos obviously show it off. I had so much fun that day – even when my fingers felt like they weren’t meant to move anymore. I love them and will continue to love them forever. We can’t wait to see the both of you again on the wedding day. Thanks again!

davina & brian: engagement sneak peek

What can I say about this stunning couple aside from the fact that they’re as beautiful inside as they are on the outside.  I know it sounds incredibly cliche, and photographers are always saying how gorgeous their couples are– but in our case, it’s absolutely true!!  You may recognize Davina and Brian from her sister Dana’s wedding that we shot in October.  We have the good fortune of shooting their wedding this summer and if it’s anything we’ve learned, this is one wickedly stylish group of friends and family (can we join your crew???)

Here’s some teasers Cheryl shot from their awesome Vancouver engagement session which showcases two of my favorite things:  lots of outfit changes and locations 🙂  Check back soon for the rest!

happy new year

What a whirlwind the past 2 weeks has been!  Baby Kai is now 2 weeks old and we’ve been in our new home for a week.  Christmas was spent with our huge family as we watched all the kids open their presents and stuffed our faces with delicious food!  The gluttony was quite shameful which explains the New Years diet resolutions across the board 😉  In between all the unpacking of boxes and holiday festivities I managed to steal away for some mini photo shoots with my latest muse.  Gotta start ’em early I say!

Wishing you all the best in the new year 🙂
